Abstract

This study is entitled “Visual Imagery Analysis: Seven Years of Darkness Novel (2020)”. This study focused on the types of visual imagery presented in the Seven Years of Darkness novel. The study aims to identify the types of visual imagery used in the novel. The data was taken from the novel’s clauses and sentences found in the novel Seven Years of Darkness. The data of this study were collected using the observation method and analyzed using the descriptive qualitative method. The data will be analyzed based on the relevant theory of literature specifically to identify the imagery presented in the novel using the theory from Perrine in Johnson & Arp (2017) about the types of imagery, specifically visual imagery. The data of this study was presented in both formal and informal formats. According to the findings of this study, the novel contains a total of 44 visual imagery dominant uses color elements to describe the visual imagery found. From 44 visual imagery data, 18 data or 41% of them used color elements since color is a key aspect in assisting people to recognize an object. It is frequently employed in this chapter as an element of visual imagery. According to the findings of this study, visual imagery is used in the novel to focus the depiction of specific settings, which helps the storyline flow
