CHARACTERIZATION ANALYSIS OF MAJOR CHARACTER IN THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ NOVEL

Abstract
This study is aimed to find out the three dimensions of the major character’s characterization in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Novel. This study used the theory proposed by Lagos Egri (1960) in order to solve the problem above. In his theory, there are 3 dimensions of character consisting of physiological, sociological, and psychological dimensions. To analyze the data, this study used the descriptive qualitative method. Furthermore in collecting the data this article used library method. All of those methods and theory is used in this article to solve the problem above. This study found that one of the major characters in this study was the Wizard of Oz. Based on the physiological dimension the look of the Wizard of Oz was described as an old man who has a bald head and wrinkled face. In terms of sociological dimension, the Wizard of Oz was shown to have a job as a ventriloquist, and balloonist in circus. But in his country he had become the ruler of Emerald City. Furthermore, in terms of psychological dimension he was revealed to be a mysterious person who is also known as the great and terrible wizard, who has personalities as a reciprocal, and has a secret being be a humbug but still, he was a responsible person who try to fulfill his promise. Based on the data the psychological dimension was shown to be the most dimension aspect that was used to reveal the Wizard of Oz.
